RhD detection in transfusion medicine

چکیده
Transfusion medicine represents one of the emerging branches last century. With discovery isoagglutinin, main proof has been made that blood group inheritance is encoded in genes which established theory four groups. Moreover, presence certain antibodies, later known as Rh factors, directly reflects ability to accept or reject group. Several methods detection factor have used transfusion helps diagnostic procedures. This great importance, especially during pregnancies donation processes. Molecular approaches enable identification and analysis negative for specific antigens against a patient may generated donors who are common antigens.

TRANSFUSION MEDICINE The DAU allele cluster of the RHD gene
Variant D occurs frequently in Africans. However, considerably less RHD alleles have been described in this population compared with Europeans. We characterized 5 new RHD alleles, dubbed DAU-0 to DAU-4, that shared a T379M substitution and occurred in a cDe haplotype. DAU-1 to DAU-4 were detected in Africans with partial D phenotypes. They harbored one and 2 additional missense mutations, respe...

Among the myriad postage stamps issued throughout the world, many have depicted persons and events in medical history. Presented here are a number of examples from my collection of medical philately that illustrate individuals who have made contributions in the field of transfusion medicine. Also included are representations of various subjects relating to the specialty. For thousands of years,...

2. A patient who was admitted to the intensive care unit for a major gastrointestinal bleed receives a red cell transfusion. One hour after the transfusion, he complains of severe dyspnea. Over the next 30 minutes he develops respiratory failure and fevers with a chest x-ray showing infiltrates. He is intubated, but over the next 24 hours he improves and is extubated in 48 hours. What reaction ...
متن کاملEducational Need Assessment of Anesthesiologists and Surgeons in Transfusion Medicine
Introduction: Developing continuing medical education (CME) programs should be based on assessments of learners’ needs. On the other hand, one of the prevalent problems in Iran is the excessive use of blood products, and the highest demand for blood transfusion is related to surgical wards. Hence, the purpose of this study was to assess the educational needs of anesthesiologists and surgeons in...

“Blood-Matching Goes Genetic,” a recent News Focus article in Science (1 ), illustrates the growing awareness of the impact of the genomics revolution on transfusion medicine and its potential to transform the way blood is selected for transfusion. Antibody-based technology has been the basis for blood group typing since the discovery of the ABO blood groups by Landsteiner and colleagues. With ...
